So you have decided you want a dog, but what to get, male or female? The answer to this question may differ depending on the person that is being asked. Some people actually believe that one sex is better than the other sex.
The generalization is that male dogs tend to love attention, affectionate, frisk, and are more focused on human beings than female dogs (known to be more needy on average), females are generally labled as more independent and inconsistent in their focus on their human companions. Females can be every bit as loving but after awhile they may prefer to go off on their own, whereas males are likely to accept as much pampering and attention as their human companions are willing to give them. Schnauzers are known to bond whether male or female very strongly with their family.
The battle of the sexes is not limited to humans. Some believe that the male dog is more affectionate and easier to train, while the female dog is more aggressive and protective of its owners and puppies. Well, the truth is that when it comes to dogs and puppies there is no superior sex. The qualities cited above are just the anecdotal observations of many dog owners. There is no study that has proved any general truism that a dog will behave a certain way because it is male or female.
The Final Decision. There really is not that much difference between a male and a female dog. Truthfully, the choice should be based on the sense of connection you feel with an individual dog more than anything else.
